If you’re into collecting and having physical copies of classic albums, like myself, then good news because Drake’s surprise album If You’re Reading This It’s Already Too Late will be released as a CD and available to buy on April 21.
The initial unexpected digital release of the mixtape, via iTunes, a month and a half ago had been very successful with every song on the album on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts and still on Billboards Top 10. It’s even sold 770,000 copies to date.
Another reason to buy the CD, two new songs will be added. “How About Now”, a song that Drake debuted on his OVO Soundcloud last year and a previously unreleased song called “My Side”.
According to HipHopDX, Kyle Reilly, Datpiff founder, stated If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late was supposed to be released for free on the website hosted by DJ Drama, but Cash Money interfered with the deal.
Even though Drake, Young Money, or even Cash Money Records has yet to make an official announcement about the physical release of the mixtape, it doesn’t seem to be slowing down the release at all.
Once an announcement is made that 770,000 will increase significantly when the physical drops, especially if pre-sales are available. And since Cash Money interfered and released the mixtape as an album, Drakes four album obligation to the label is now fulfilled, therefore once, or if, Lil Wayne is released from the label and paid Drake is free to go with him.
Here’s Drake sharing the news of his success with his fans.
